Worship @ Willow Street this week has the theme, "Let It Snow." It's preschool Sunday, featuring our preschool students and staff. Each snow flake is unique, made that way by the infinitly variable combinations of moisture, wind, altitude, and temperature as the droplet of water freezes and drops to the ground.
Likewise, all of us are created as unique individuals. Our genetics, families of origin, cultures, as well as our life experiences come together to enhance this uniqueness.
Though snowflakes are each unique, snow is snow. Though we are all unique, we are all human beings--creations of a loving God; created in the image of God.
In 1 Corinthians 12, the focal scripture for this Sunday, Paul uses the analogy of the human body--many different parts, all one body. Each of us has been given a unique combination of gifts from our Creator God. Like each individual part of our body, every gift is important in the body of Christ.
Indeed, there are many gifts, but the same Spirit; many gifts but the same God; different gifts but one body of Christ. Thanks be to God!
Welcome to Worship at Willow Street
Whoever you are . . .
Wherever you are on your faith journey . . .
You are welcome here!
This is a site where I will discuss and ruminate upon the focal scripture and upcoming worship service at the Willow Street United Church of Christ. You are welcome to join the discussion: agree, disagree, make suggestions, whatever (well . . . as long as it's appropriate for a Christian blogsite!).
The plan is to update on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Monday being the beginning of a new thread leading toward the following Sunday.
This is my first attempt at this, please be patient!
